Who is responsible
Olivier Laurent, who publishes this site in a personal capacity, based in Belgium. Contact: hello@humanfrontier.ai. See also the Legal notice.
Visiting the site
No account, no cookie set by us, and no script that follows you from one visit to the next or from one site to another. The pages are served by Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., United States), which acts on our behalf and may keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, browser, requested page) to run and protect the service. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in making this site available (General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare may process these data in the United States. This transfer relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, incorporated into Cloudflare’s data processing addendum. A copy of these safeguards is available on request at hello@humanfrontier.ai.
Audience measurement
This site does not measure its audience today. Before we put any measurement in place, we will describe it on this page.
The diagnostic
It runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are neither sent nor stored.
The forms
Two kinds of form ask for your email address: the newsletter form (home page, diagnostic, book page) and the training interest form (readers’ page). Both are optional. What you enter (your email address, the programmes you ticked and, if you fill them in, your organisation and country) goes to a sign-up service run on riftveil.ai, which passes it to EmailOctopus, our email service, a company established in the United Kingdom that stores contacts in the European Union (Ireland). Transfers to the United Kingdom are covered by the European Commission’s adequacy decision. To send some of the emails and run its service, EmailOctopus also uses sub-processors, some of them in the United States; it publishes their list and the transfer safeguards.
Nothing is added to a list until you confirm: you first receive an email with a confirmation link. We record the programmes you ticked, the form you used and the version of the consent text you accepted. To limit abuse, the sign-up service keeps your IP address, hashed with a secret key, for 24 hours, never the address itself.
What it is for, and on what basis
Your consent (GDPR, Article 6(1)(a)): to send you the newsletter you asked for, and to tell you when a programme you ticked opens; if you ticked “Riftveil Certified Trainer”, that email also invites you to apply. Nothing else. You can withdraw your consent at any time, using the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to us.
How long
Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. The “Be told when it opens” form on the readers’ page: until the opening email for the programmes you ticked. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days.
Writing to us
If you write to hello@humanfrontier.ai, your address and your message are received and stored in Microsoft Exchange Online, provided by Microsoft, acting on our behalf. We keep your address and your message for as long as it takes to answer you, then for at most 12 months after our last exchange. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you (GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)); when you exercise your rights, our legal obligation to answer you (same article, point (c)).
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, their rectification or erasure, the restriction of their use or a copy in a reusable format, and you can object to their use. Write to hello@humanfrontier.ai; we answer within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in particular in the country where you live or work.
